A split rail fence is generally made out of split logs and is offered in a number of styles. 2, 3, and 4 rail split rail fences are available. Generally, the type of wood used for split rail fence is Western Red Cedar, but other types are also available. Split Rail fence is typically installed with the bottom rail about a foot and a half off of the ground. Some customers decide to staple wire mesh fencing along the fence in order to create more of a barrier, depending on their needs. Split rail posts are installed without concrete to prevent quick rotting (concrete would hold water against post). Posts are generally spaced ten and a half feet apart.
