Thanks for choosing Sadler Fence and Sons LLC!

My name is Colin Sadler. I started working in the fence business in Western New York when my Dad, Pat Sadler, got me a job with a local fence company for my fifteenth birthday present. I worked there as a part-time summer job while finishing high school. This beginning guided my choices to attend college for business and to one day open my own company. I worked full time while attending Niagara County Community College and Buffalo State College, resulting in a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management.

On April 18th, 2008 I acquired my DBA (Doing Business As) License for Sadler Fence and Sons. I continued working full time and decided not to open the business full-time yet, hesitant because of the economy being in a rough patch. In 2012, I took the last big step of trading off a steady paycheck for the chance to go off on my own. At this point I had spent years acquiring the needed machinery and business knowledge for a start-up. So here we are in the Winter of 2013 and I am itching to get an early start to my first full-time season as the sole owner/operator of Sadler Fence and Sons.

Thanks for visiting my website (created in 2013 by my sister, Stephanie Sadler). Now you know a brief history of the steps I took to open this business. We are here to be your professional consultant in all things fence. We hope your experience with us is pleasurable and informative and we look forward to serving the Western New York area for many years.

2016 update: At the end of our third year full season in business, Sadler Fence has installed roughly 20,000 linear feet of fence and we have stained roughly 5,000 feet. The business has grown each year and we owe our customers a big Thank You for that! I finally got a chance to update the website here. We are adding a number of pictures to our photo gallery and have made changes to a few pages as we continue to refine our product offerings.

2017 update: In 2016 we stayed very busy, installing 13,000 linear feet of fence and staining an additional 2,300 feet. We refined our product offerings, now focusing on wood, vinyl, chain link fence installation, and fence staining, and no longer offering vinyl hand railing. We have incorporated our business and plan to purchase another work truck, trailer, and possibly a piece of larger equipment later this year. My employees and I are excited to see what this year has in store for us. Thanks for your continued support! We appreciate the business, WNY!

2019 update: As of the end of 2018 we have installed approximately 55,000 linear feet of all different types and styles of fence. We have also applied stain to roughly 9,000 feet since we opened for business. Each year we continue to focus on quality work and trying to give every project a special touch. We have purchased a dedicated work truck, trailer, and a piece of digging equipment called a Bobcat MT-85 track machine. This allows us to more consistently dig below the frost line so our fences hold up to the sometimes harsh WNY weather. It also saves some wear and tear on our workers! Excellent customer service is still our main goal and we hope that if you choose to work with SadlerFence, you will agree!

2020 update: As of the end of our 2019 season, we have installed or stained over 80,000 feet of fence as a company, averaging about 175 jobs a year with a variety of fence types and styles. We are currently operating with two full-time employees getting all the work done and I stay busy running sales calls, doing the administrative side of the business, and getting my hands dirty whenever I can on job sites, delivering materials or, once in a while, digging some post holes. After operating the business for 11 years and being in the fence business for about 17 years, I find that I still really like my job. Working outside year-round in WNY, you never really have a predictable season and working around the changes in the weather can be a challenge. I have never had a customer get mad for the potential of delaying a job for three feet of snow or negative wind chills, but we are usually out there and loving it anyways 🙂 Thanks WNY! We appreciate the business!

2021 update: 2020 was obviously a tough year, not just for us as a company, but virtually everyone in the world has been affected by Covid-19. We worked through last winter and had plenty of work to carry us into the spring, but we got shut down in early April, being deemed non-essential. My employees and I spent the next month and a half sitting at home until NYS deemed fence installation to be an essential service in mid-May. At that point, we had about 3 months of work to catch up on. By late June we were booked until January and I decided to stop accepting new work until we could catch up. Instead of running sales calls, I started doing our smaller jobs either by myself or with a helper. Material availability and soaring material costs have been a big challenge since mid-2020 as well. I delayed approximately a dozen jobs last year as we were unable to get materials in time. Our vinyl supplier normally operates with a 3-week lead time during the busiest months and they are now at a consistent 10-12 week ordering time.  Despite the challenges, 2020 did have some blessings. I got to spend a lot more time with my family than normal. My wife and I had our 3rd son, born in November. All in all, I hope we don’t ever live through another 2020, but it did have some bright spots. We installed almost 20,000 feet of fence and used about 170 gallons of stain.

2023 update: 2022 was a very busy year for us. We made three big changes in the way we operate. The first was moving our storage/shop to a new location. It took quite a while to get all of our equipment and materials moved over and get organized, but our new location has some new benefits to our employees and is more spacious, allowing us to stay more organized. The second and resulting third was we decided that 2022 was our last year offering staining services. We stained fences for about 14 years and after all that time we have decided the difficulty this has caused our schedule was just not worth it anymore. We will focus strictly on fence installations from here on out. This prompted us to change our name from Sadler Fence and Staining LLC to Sadler Fence and Sons LLC. I have three boys and one or all of them may take over the business when they are older. My dad also helped me get into the fence industry over 20 years ago, so I feel like the name fits well. We stayed busy on the work side of things too, running one very full-time crew all year, plus one part-time crew through the summer months, with myself still working on some job sites to help my workers keep up with our schedule. With all the difficulties of owning a construction business during/post-covid (supply chain issues, pricing uncertainty, ect…), my workers make that side of our job easy, always taking care of our customers one job at a time. I’m very lucky to have my employees. I could not do this without them. As always, THANK YOU WNY! There is always an element of trust involved in hiring a contractor to do work on your property. We appreciate you putting your trust in us and keeping us busy!

It is exciting to me that Sadler Fence has grown to the point that we are at today and I am looking forward to see how the business will continue to develop over time. I appreciate the hard work that our employees have put in to install and stain beautiful fences and keep our customers happy.

Thanks for visiting our website. If you need assistance or need help finding a specific fence style or service, please don’t hesitate to email, text, or call. We appreciate your business! 716 696-0420
